Where do souls go when their body dies? Some say to an afterlife, some say nowhere, but I can tell you without a doubt you go to the Eternum.

What is the Eternum?
The Eternum is an Astral Plane that harbors all the souls from the other planes. As souls pass on, they find their way in the Eternum as part of massive soul winds. While others find there way to the Eternum without death, those who live there have built giant ships to sail the Eternal Sea. When cataclysmic events and horrific actions bring souls to the Eternum en masse, raging storms and powerful winds wreak havoc on the tame sea.

Who would make the Eternum their home?
Many creatures from different planes have found their way to the Eternum. Some have been born into the Eternum, while others arrive though magic or chance. Prominent races have spread across the Eternal Sea in hopes of surviving. However, the magic in the souls is not kind to all and those who are blessed by the winds take the form of disfigured monsters.

The Islands
Very little in the Eternum has the power to stay forever. Some islands are stable and have civilization built on their sandy shores, while most unstable islands only remain afloat for a few hours to a few days. When new islands arise from the unforgiving depths, it can be important to collect resources, relics, and solve ancient mysteries.

The Monsters
From giant sea leviathans to carnivorous bugs, the wildlife of this bizarre place matches its chaos perfectly. While some wildlife is born and dies in the Eternum, most threats are those of wandering souls. When a Soul is too strong to fall into the wind, they roam the Eternum looking for a host body. The host could be anything from the remains of another creature, a chest or barrel, all the way to the carcass of a decaying ship.

Civilization
While it is true the Eternum is a wild and lawless place, society has found its footing on the Stable Islands. Those with souls live in small ports and cities and send out ships to collect resources from the emerging islands. With no larger government or unified force, the islands of the Eternum often wage war against each other.
